Plain Old Telephone Service
Refers to copper telephone lines, sometimes called analog, used in analog telephones, fire panels, elevators, emergency lines, point-of-sale terminals and fax lines.
You may see POTS used currently with new regulations phasing out POTS lines completely. POTS replacement is the processing of removing old copper lines and encouraging widespread transition to cellular LTE connections.
